Appomattox Court House National Historical Park

A unit of the National Park Service, Appomattox Court House NHP is where the final chapter of the nation's Civil War unfolded.  This small village witnessed big history on April 9, 1865 when Gen. Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia fought its last battle and was surrendered in the parlor of the McLean House that afternoon.  Come and immerse yourself into one of America's most important landscapes and learn about one of its most defining moments.

Red Hill, the Patrick Henry National Memorial

Patrick Henry's Red Hill – The Patrick Henry National Memorial - is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, devoted to education and historic preservation. Red Hill keeps the spirit of the Voice of the American Revolution alive by inspiring a better understanding of Patrick Henry through educational programs and scholarship. Part of the mission is to maintain and interpret Red Hill, Patrick Henry's last home and burial place, as a historic site and museum. Our vision is to ignite a revolution of interest in early American history through educating and connecting others with the role Patrick Henry played in the nation's founding.

The Old Jail Museum & Library

Appomattox is rich in history and is recognized worldwide for the surrender that took place on April 9, 1865 between General Robert E. Lee and General Ulysses S. Grant that ended the American Civil War. Come for the history, but stay for our unique shopping, restaurants, and attractions. The Appomattox Historical Society has  2 facilities - The Old Jail Museum & Library ;pcated at 337 Court St (Old Courthouse Square) and the Clover Hill Village Living History Center located at  5747 River Ridge Rd. Both facilities open in April and close in October. They are open Fri - Sun 10am - 4pm and open upon request when normally closed. Holliday Lake State Park

Evergreen Lavender Farm

This small family farm is open seasonally when the lavender is in bloom. During the season, people can cut their own lavender, participate in lavender crafting, shop in the Norfolk & Lavender Caboose which carries products that are made on the farm or by other artisans, and stroll the gardens. Saturday lunches are available to order by the Babcock House. After the lavender season, the farm offers workshops, special events and concerts. The farm is also a venue for small weddings, showers and celebrations.
